We began our love story, connecting through an online dating app. Shelly had Kylie from a previous marriage and together we welcomed baby Landon into our lives, transforming our family of three into a family of four. Given the significant age gap between the kids, we contemplated expanding our family by adopting siblings in the middle. And thus, the Crazy Middles journey began to unfold.
The initial sibling set we invited into our family consisted of Cody, Lacey, and Lizzy. Although we felt like our family was complete, we eventually determined that we could accommodate rejoining another sibling group that was separated in foster care.
Next came Cynthia, Destiny, and Jonathan
At the time, we only adopted sibling groups in an effort to reunite them. But we took in a young boy for a weekend visit and instantly fell in love. Introducing the newest member of the family, Jacob.
Our family welcomed Mason as our next addition. Initially intended for just a weekend placement, similar to our past experiences, Mason quickly captured our hearts, and we embraced him with love. Mason, we're thrilled to have you as part of our family!
Shortly after came Weston and Spencer. Weston was just about to age out which would have left Spencer alone in the group home. So we adopted them both with Christmas just around the corner!
Next up is Anavaeh! She was in our home for a few weeks when we were going though some paperwork and learned she had a brother also in the system. Our search for him took weeks, but the effort was worth it as we welcomed two new additions to our family. Please meet Anavaeh and Braxton!
Upon receiving a phone call, we learned that three young siblings were on the brink of being separated. Naturally, we were thrilled at the opportunity to welcome Harlan, Aubrey, and Addison into our family.
Following that, we extended a warm welcome to Kason into our family.
Trey initially came to us as a newborn straight from the hospital. After a year, he returned to his biological mother. However, a year later, she reached out to us again, and we were grateful to welcome Trey and his sister Brinley into our family.
Finally, we welcomed Nichole into our family. Nichole is Jacob's sister. Although we weren't able to legally adopt her, we hold her dearly in our hearts as part of our adopted family.
Our family has now grown to include 23 members. Embracing the joys of our large family, we wouldn't hesitate to embark on this journey all over again. As for whether there will be more additions in the future, only time will tell.
